We're very pleased to announce the return of this washed Pink Bourbon from Juan Jimenez and his farm El Porvenir for another year.

Our import partner Osito started working with Señor Jimenez back in 2018 and it was one of their first relationships they established in the Palestina region in the southern most part of Huila.

Finca El Porvenir is a 16 hectare farm on which they grow Caturra, Variedad Colombia and this Pink Bourbon. Yes, the berries do ripen a shade of pink rather than the typical red or yellow. Pink Bourbon was originally thought to be a natural mutation of Red Bourbon, but detailed genetic testing by the team at Cafe Imports back in 2023 discovered it was actually more closely related to Ethiopian landrace. That partly explains the delicate fruits and floral notes we typically associate with this variety.

When we first tasted this coffee back in 2023 it reminded us of a great Kenyan coffee. Perhaps a little more delicate, but vibrant and mouthwatering and a long way away from the super heavy fermented flavours that have dominated the Colombian marketplace in recent years.
